Well, presumably the root is consistent, but the main difference between naturally curly hair and straight hair can be seen under a microscope. Curly hair has a flattened aspect, while straight hair is more rounded. It looks almost like the difference between flat and round shoelaces, but not so extreme.

The protein it produces is of a slightly different type.This accounts for hair colour,texture and length.Once the hair leaves the root follicle it's dead and can only be changed artificially.It's genetic and you're stuck with it.
